This month’s calendar has a little bit of everything, but kicks off strong with FOUR dog focused Cinco de Mayo events, including two Chihuahua runs and one brunch where pup food & treats are the on the menu!

🐶5/3- Friday– First Ever Orlando Dog Mom Meetup (7-9 pm)
This is the first official event/gathering of the new “Orlando Dog Mom Club”, hosted by Myriam Gutstein, the “Orlando Dog Mom” who started the club and who owns “Orlando Dog Mom Dog Walking & In-Home Pet Sitting”.
***This event is at capacity (rsvp is required), but I wanted to make everyone aware that this new club exists so you can get in on future events!
🐶5/5- Sunday Annual Running of the Chihuahuas & Cinco de Mayo Block Party (9am-9pm)
Hosted by Cocina 214 in Winter Park, this event (in it’s 7th year) is always a good time. Chihuahuas are invited to participate in the 7th Annual Running of the Chihuahuas, where the participants race for the title of “Top Dog”. For a $15 donation, locals can enter their pup into the race for a cause, as all proceeds will benefit Winter Park Lost Pets and Poodle & Pooch Rescue. Race starts at 11am, and registration open at 9am. Stick around for the Cinco De Mayo Block Party for giveaways, samples, & drink specials! Click the link above to get your ticket in advance.
🐶5/5- Sunday – Crooked Can 2nd Annual Chihuahua Cha-Cha Run for the Rescues (2pm-3:30pm)
What’s better than a race for the Chihuahuas? TWO! Hosted by Crooked Can Brewing in Winter Garden, this run benefits A Cause for Paws Rescue. Bring your Chihuahua out to compete and show their need for speed, or grab a beer with your pup and enjoy the show! Prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Registration begins at 12pm, and the race starts at 2pm. Click the link above to register in advance.
🐶 5/11- Saturday – 5 de Mayo Bark N’ Brunch (11am – 3pm)- RESCHEDULED!
Hosted by Semilla Nativa and Tips_doggymom at Rocky’s Retreat Canine Health and Fitness Center, this Cinco de Mayo brunch is meant for you AND your pup! With a focus on vegan and gluten free diets, they’ll be serving up a delicious menu, which includes mojitos and sangria. The coolest part? Each menu option includes something for your pup! Whether you choose a full meal or a doggy cocktail is up to you! Check out the link above for the full menu options and to snag your ticket. There will also be activities like an off leash park, crafts (make our own bandana), photo booth, and more.
🐶5/5- Sunday – Cinco de May Fur Festival (3pm-7pm)
Hosted by the Pixel Fund, experience a hilarious and spicy late afternoon filled with food, fun, and comedy to support saving the lives of animals in Central FL while enjoying a spicy Cinco de Mayo Festival of Fur complete with Drag Queens, a professional comedian, one of the areas most popular DJs, and a full Taco Bar. Get your salsa on to benefit our efforts to save the lives of homeless pets. Tickets (click the link above) include food, entertainment and non-alcoholic beverages. Alcohol is available for purchase. Silent Auction and Margarita Raffle!

Hosted by The Owl’s Attic, this curated outdoor pop-up features local vintage + handmade goods by several local vendor, great food, drinks and live music. Swing by our stay and hang out, it’s always a good time in the Audubon Park Garden District!
🐾5/11- Saturday – College Park Spring Fest (5pm-11pm)
Formerly Dancing on the Drive, this event will feature a festive and vibrant vibe along Edgewater Drive with live music, live painting, art installations, giant inflatable Twister, food trucks, and the local shops and restaurants open onto the street. There will also be a wine & beer garden. Admission is a $10 donation and all proceeds benefit College Park Main Street. Click the link above for more info.
❤️5/15-26 – “Just a Dog” at Orlando Fringe Festival (Various Times)
Tricky Pig Productions presents “Just a Dog, Right?” a beautiful and touching one-woman revue that explores humankind’s history with our greatest companions and asks the question, “do we do as much for our furry friends as they do for us?” From hunting assistance at the dawn of humanity to the viral videos of farting pugs, dogs have been our closest allies and friends for a millennia. But why do we love them? After all – it’s just a dog, right?
❤️5/19- Sunday– Pet CPR & First Aid Class (12pm-5pm)
This class is perfect for pet parents & pet care professionals. You will practice 3 types of CPR (for cats & dogs), rescue breathing, choking management, bandaging wounds & learn about heatstroke, poisoning, seizures & much more! Everyone gets a handbook with instructions, pictures & actions for over 50 emergency situations & a certificate suitable for framing. Cost is $75.00/person. 🐾❤️5/21- Tuesday – Dine for Paws 2019 (All Day)
Restaurants from all of Central Florida are coming together to support Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando! Dine at any of the participating restaurants (see link above) on Tuesday, May 21 and they will donate 15% of the proceeds to Pet Alliance!
🐶5/25- Sunday – Doggie Paddle (9:30am-11am)
Hosted by Lake Life Paddles, this month’s doggie paddle benefits Endless Pawsibilities Pet Rescue. If you would like to come out and see if your dog enjoys paddling with you, this is your day! Dogs love doing everything their people do and paddling is no exception. Cost of the event is $30 and Lake Life Paddle will donate half of the rental cost to the Pet Rescue. Suggested donation with your own board is $15.
